Jet-Hot coating pic
Since this applies to FFI and NA cars, I thought I would post here. Here's what Jet-Hot coating looks like (note that the INSIDE of the pipe is coated as well, not just the outside like some of the cheaper coating places).
This was done by Jet-Hot (www.jet-hot.com). Turnaround time was about 6 days once they had the part. Contact them for pricing (I can't remember what I paid and cannot find my receipt just now).

I am considering having my TXS downpipe Jet-Hot coated. My question: does coating the inside degrade the smoothness of the pipe and therefore create more turbulence and back pressure?
I emailed them for a price quote but it would be great if you told me your price so I have a little bargaining power.
Thanks for the pic. Are you loving that pipe?

It is a thermal coating to prevent heat from escaping.
FYI: I spoke to TurboXS today and they told me that Jet-Hot coating the downpipe VOIDS THE WARRANTY! They said that trapping heat in the steel will make it brittle over time. Heat tape wrapping also voids the warranty for the same reason.
TurboXS said that if Jet-Hot were to be applied, it should ONLY be coated on the INSIDE of the downpipe to protect the steel. They also said that the stainless steel does not radiate as much heat through the sides of the pipe as one would think so wrapping or coating the pipe doesn't help as much as one would think.
This seems to make sense since iron cookware heats much better than stainless steel.
I am not a techie, but if TurboXS says my 5 year warranty would be void, I'm not going to touch the outside of my downpipe.
