no way the civic of this generation is deff the 240. I mean thats all i've been seeing lately w/ this drifting fad going on. Everyone in town seems to be buying 240's and puttin sr20's into them. Way over rated, just like the civic!

I duno about that SR20 comment, I'm a convert from the SR20DE(T) crowd and they seem to be a bunch very much like the WRX/STi crowd. Very performence oriented and not as much into the ricey side. I had an SR20DE powered 99 Sentra SE-L and loved it to death, was a blast to drive. You are right though on the fact that the ricer crowd knows 'of' the SR20 much moreso than the EJ20T i think. However ive noticed alot more of the kids at my sisters highschool giving me funny looks when i drop her off and pick her up from school. I had one kid go so far as to say do a all wheel burnout to me, i just looked at him and said 'Are you retarted?'

On dry paved roads, RWD > AWD. Not sure what that has to do with civic's though???? 
Let me be the first to say, converting AWD to RWD for the purpose of drifting is just plain gay. Putting on low-traction tires or changing the camber for the purpose of drifting is gay. M-kay?

Definition of civic is "of the city"
Definition of impreza "... somthin do do with space or somethin."
Owners of the two cars come with different mindsets so I don't think that the impreza will become the next civic. You can't have fun in the mud with the civic

I think domestic rice is the new trend. With all of the Mustangs, Foci, Cavaliers, Sunfires; these are the new "Civics". All of the 240 owners I know with SR20DET's are basically rice boys. Everyone of them has bought the car with all the work already done and have added nothing themselves.
On a side note; the older Evo's had a trasmission where you could pull a pin and convert it to RWD. I think it was on the Evo 3, but not sure. I remember a guy when I used to be a DSMer that had one in his Talon. Pretty trick.

By low traction tires I simply meant tires that are not good quality sticky tires. Something like your typical cheap-o 40,000 mile all-season radial.
Here is a good example of what I mean by gay. Back in highschool (mid 80's) I had a '77 Celica GT (rear wheel drive, 5-speed), that I absolutely drove the **** out of. Once in a while I would over-inflate the rear tires a bit (rated for 32, I'd pump them up to around 37), then I'd attack one of my many favorite twisty roads, sliding and drifting all over the place. Fun? Yup. But kinda stupid (gay) to actually lower the handling ability just to slide around. Converting an AWD to RWD for this is an extreme example.
As to me driving a Neon.. No thanks. I don't like FWD cars. I've only ever bought one FWD for myself, a beater Beretta GT that I used to go to work and back when I had to park in a questionable part of town.

Until I bought a DSM a couple years ago I was always a muscle car fan (a few Firebirds, '81 Corvette), and kicking the back end out is common and easily controlled. As for the RWD wrx....there is nothing wrong with that, If you notice the JGTC Impreza is RWD also, that's a pure bred race car. Now is there anything wrong with that? NO.
Drift is an Art and a exceptional skill :banana:
don't hate it because don't have a car that can't do it now or can't perform a drift like the pros.
