I would never buy a used WRX
Never would do it. If I did, I'd have to low ball the seller, no matter if it had 500 miles on it or if it had 45,000 miles on it. I would have to do this to take account of the risk factor of having to replace the tranny, clutch and anything else that may have gotten f'd up cuz of any ridiculous driving. How can you ever be sure that they didn't abuse? If resale value is not bad on the WRX right now, it will only get worse as these problems persist.

I think as long as they are low milage it's relativly safe to buy. You've still got a warrenty and all. I would avoid any used wrx that is modded though. Thats a telltale sign of abuse.

Though I've modded my car I don't abuse it. But even I'm way outnumbered by people who bought, ran and will sell it stock. I modded my car because I like the pickup, and it gives me a nice advantage when a hole opens up that can save me a lot of heartache later by keeping me from getting caught behind some old man in a hat driving a Ford POS 15 miles under the limit.
You can't go by what you read on the boards, it is the most extreme 1% who come here, but I've learned a lot from those boys.

I have a used WRX and dont have any regrets. I saved a lot over new and still have warranty...i'm happy! I dont care what used car you buy, there always a chance someone abused it. I dont care if its a Subaru or a Kia, yes its a risk, but thats why you can get warrantees. Buying a new or used car is a very personal decision and everyone must make up his/her mind what is right for them.

You also have to take into account the owner of the car. Is he some punk kid who did half *** mods and shoddy installs or a respectible person who had pride in his car and modded properly.
I would have no problem selling my car as is to my grandma (other than the fact its faster than heck) or some stranger. I personally do autox the car and take it on lapping days but I always change the fluid on time with quality oils and take care of it better than I do myself. So just because I autox it means I abused it right. So you would have never done the exact things everyone else here does to their WRX... drive it.
But I realize I am probably in the minority.

Hey Bone- I don't understand why you're being such a jerk. If you're going to be an *** and respond with "who cares...I don't give a crap what you do", then why even bother responding? The whole point of my post was that with the problems with the glass tranny ppl are not likely to want to buy this car used. I jsut wanted to hear what everybody had to say about this issue in a "mature" way. I'm sorry if you're offended because you have a used one. Frankly, I couldn't give a rat's *** what your opinion is of my opinion. And I love how you compare the WRX to the 350z........both great cars but I wonder which has a higher percentage of punk kids who thrash the engine buying them?

I hope this Joe guy does not buy a Subaru cause he is pretty pretty dumb. When you buy a used car there is always some risks like that. Tranny problems, clutch? Is this used car pushing 300+ to the wheels, otherwise i would not worry about it.

Obviously, anyone who get offended and says "I don't care what you do" is really touchy. You may not care whether I buy a used WRX or not....don't respond......and guess what- even more ppl don't care that you don't care. I never expected ppl with used WRXs to care. But ppl who are in the market for buying either a used WRX or a new WRX absolutely do care about resale value.
