I just weighed my car.

With the spare tire removed and a half tank of gas it weighed 3060..

I thought the WRX was supposed to weigh like 3250ish stock?

oh, my car is basically stock with the exeption of Springs, shocks, a RSB with endlinks and strut top mounts. Even stock rims.

I don't think a spare tire and the little floor jack could weigh 200 lbs so what could be making my car lighter? Or is subaru just wrong?

After weighing my car it made me want to go nuts with weight reduction... Want to break 2800.

Edit: Just figured other WRX owners would like to know the results to maybe see the weight of their car.

Well damn, quit complaining! Maybe Subaru is just wrong, but then again, gas is heavy. It may very well weigh 3250 lbs on a full tank and with the spare/jack installed.

Figure a spare tire/jack is probably about 40-50 lbs in total. Take gas at about 8 lbs per gallon, and you have what, a 15 gallon gas tank? I'm not sure, but let's say you do. That's another 50+ lbs.

Keep in mind that some of your upgraded suspension components may also be lighter than some of the factory pieces.

Also, what kind of scale did you use? A truck scale isn't going to be the most accurate when it's designed to weight things much heavier.

Wow, I weighed my 99RS with the spare / jack taken out and some other very minimal weigh reduction... came in at 2760 on 1/4 tank of gas.

I never got to weigh my 00 Legacy though, probably would have came in the 3200 range.

Curb weight as listed in the factory service manual for an '02 WRX is 3085 lbs with full tank of gas and other fluid levels at factory specs.

Here is another source that lists 2002 WRX specs.

Correct me for my ignorance, but where can I get my car weighed other than at the track? I want to get my Camaro weighed as well as my STi.

weighing stations on the side of highways for the semis, scrap metal shipping places, etc...

but the scales are those places are VERY inaccruate, at least +/- 100 to 300lbs.

Do they charge you for weighing? Also, wouldn't it really **** the weigh station guys off when they could be doing something like weighing the 20,000 lb semi behind you?

I've never tried it, but from what I hear the highway weighing stations are free, but you might get a few funny looks from the truckers...

I got it weighed at the anheuser bush plant. My freind's mom works there. I think their scale is more accurate because they are weighing to see how much the cargo is worth and not just to see if it is going to crack the concrete.

I think it is +/- 10 because it only goes up in intervals of 10

I would sware that I read on the website that the car weighs 3250.

EDIT: I took this from the subaru website "Curb weight (manual transmission)
3,192 lbs.; 3,239 lbs. with Limited Package"

Do not stop at the highway weigh stations in California. They are for enforcement purposes and the CHP oversees their use. Who must stop at those scales?

I'm assuming that you were referring to the '02 WRX listed in your member Profile. I didn't look up info on later years. Did the '02 have a 'Limited Package'?

Very good to hear my man . Im to scared to take out the black tar under the carpet. I remember in my 240sx how loud the exhaust was, im just scared it would be like that.

Ooh, I don't know about sound deadening removal lol.. Maybe I will strip the sound deadening out of the trunk.

I heard a myth that the Spec-c as well as the TR come with out sound deadening... I'm almost sure they have it because I find it hard to believe that a road car has no sound deadening... but if they do come with no sound deadening then it must not be that loud.
