Thanks a lot guys. I have 42K miles on mine and it went out the other day. After my last final, I got a new battery today from costco. $56.99 like xqwizit said.
Do you know if a Ecutek flash goes away when you change the battery/unplug the negative?

Congrats! I also noticed that Costco carries Optima batteries as well and at first glance, I didn't think they have our size for our WRX's but actually THEY DO! It's a dual size and that's why I was misled. Somehow it's Costco size 15 or something like that but it's a dual size 74/35 and our WRX's are a 35! It was $129.99 plus a $5 core charge for an Optima Red Top with a 3 year full exchange warranty. I checked the weight and it wasn't, according to my arm, significantly any lighter than the Costco battery. And at more than double the cost and no better of a warranty, I couldn't justify spending the extra dough other than the "Oooh, you have an Optima" factor.
Also, the battery warranties are only valid to the original owner (at least the Kirkland batteries, not sure about the Optimas). One way around this is to go and buy a Costco Cash card (for the exact amount of the battery plus tax plus core fee) since anyone can use it and you don't need a membership to use it. Then go and buy the battery and DO NOT show them a membership card b/c that will link it to a name that the warranty is only valid to. You'll get the battery and receipt that you can give to anyone and they can also get the benefits of the warranty.

If you live in the coastal or northern areas of California batteries can live a long
time. Inland or Arizona, where I live, the heat kills them quick. I replace my car batteries every 30 months just to relieve the suffering of getting stuck in some
god forsaken place. My world record last month was picking up a new Honda Motorcycle from the dealer. The battery didn't make it off the lot.

I don't wait for my battery fail.
I replace my battery every three years.
My original battery lasted 25K miles before it failed
and wouldn't hold a charge.
