hood scoop screen help please
hey. it's about time i got a screen. i hate cleaning out bugs and leaves.
anyways... which brand do you guys recommend? fit/price/"look".
thanks.
i hope it doesn't make my car look crappy... i don't like the grill look... prolly just paint it black so i can't see it.

I recommend the Home Depot brand. I paid like $5 for the screen and another $5 for some tin snips. I cut it to size and attached it to the underside of the scoop. No bugs, no leaves. Painted black I can't even see it.

just go to home depot and make it yourself. 5 bucks and you can make as much as you want. i over lapped mine to have a finer grill.
oh its going to be even worse when the bugs get past the grill. you'll have to take off the grill and take them out. even worse when the bugs split in half when they hit the grill.

no doubt. i actually misread or something and thought he was talking about an intercooler grill. hell go to home depot spend 5bucks on chicken wire mesh, and make one for the scoop and intercooler.

Sccop grill
The ones being sold on the Internet are made from a heavier duty screen than chicken wire - but that would work too.
If you get a piece of screen ( I think fireplace screen material would work ) about 2 feet wide and six inches high that will be more than enough to cover the opening. 6 small black zip ties, the screen material, and some tin snips and you're in business.
Heck, if you've got some wire cutters you could get by without the tin snips. It'd take a lot longer is all.

You can get aluminum gutter guard from Home Depot for pretty cheap. The mesh is fine enough to stop even small rocks...Easy to attach to the top of the intercooler by just cutting a piece to size and then bend it over on the left and right of the intercooler which should hold it in place (zip-ties may work as well). I've seen posts where people also put it at the base of the scoop and even in the opening of the scoop. If you use 3 layers though I think you'll interrupt the laminar flow of air too much and decrease cooling efficiency...One layer is better than none!
