I am at my wits end. I have a 98 Outback Sport (named Tetsua) which is running rough in idle and surges on acceleration. Also, the fuel pump and fan relays click when in conjunction with the poor idle/acceleration.

I have sent it to the dealer who tried to sell me, among other things, a 60,000 schedule maintenance for my 105000 mile car, a new battery (the one in the car is under one year old), and a cam position sensor which he would install for the low low price of $150.00.

I replaced the cam sensor, the fuel pump relay, and the plug wires. The plugs I replaced about 20,000 miles ago.

I have hooked up an OBD reader to the car, but the only code it gives me is P1100 which is either "air/fuel meter" or "starter switch malfunction" depending on the chart you look at.

Any suggestions will be grealty appreciated. And, if you can help me fix the problem, I will talk to my wife about naming our first born after you. At the very least I can promise you that our next dog will be named after you.
