Great Dealer Experience at Schaller in CT
Many times people come on here to complain about crummy dealers, and I want to share a great experience I had at Schaller Subaru in New Britain, CT.
The short story is that they searched the entire east coast for a clutch, air freighted it to the dealer, and installed it all in 3 days. Then they got Subaru to cover it all under warranty! In all my years I have never heard of a manufacturer covering a worn out clutch, but in this case they said they would cover it one time as a courtesy. That is a heck of a courtesy!
The long story is that I am from MI and I was out in CT (800 miles away) visiting my grandmother. My little brother had been driving my WRX for a couple months while his car got fixed, and in the meantime the clutch had apparently gone south. He didn't realize it (he thought it was the torque converter ), but it was slipping so badly that it would slip even if 5th gear if I gave it ANY gas. He drove 800 miles from MI to CT with it like that, and I realized upon driving it that there was so way it would make it back to MI. Problem was, I only had 3 days to get it fixed before he returned home to college. I called around on Monday morning, and Schaller said they'd do their best, and they had it done Wednesday afternoon. That dealer may not be the fanciest place in the fanciest part of town, but they sure made my week.
