Recent articles in auto news network point to a action by GM to increase Saab sales in the US via Subaru Laff. factory as well as the outcry from a recent dealers conference where the first signal of a WRX version being badged as a Saab was presented with great outrage from dealers. This is a fear as GM holding a small stake in Subaru yet a influencial one could pull it off.

"GM mulls building Saabs in U.S, may possibly encourage Saab-Subaru relationship"
By DOROTHEE OSTLE | Automotive News Europe
"GM CEO Rick Wagoner said in an interview here that he also is considering a closer relationship between Saab and Subaru, a GM affiliate. Saab dealers in the United States could get a version of the Subaru WRX wagon."
"Subaru dealers in the United States were up in arms last month at the annual convention of the National Automobile Dealers Association over discussions between Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (Subaru) and GM about whether to give Saab a version of Subaru's Impreza WRX wagon. A Subaru spokesman in the United States said a feasibility study is under way. "
Said Wagoner: "I don't think we made any announcement on it yet, but clearly (a Saab-Subaru relationship) appeals to us as an opportunity that perhaps helps both partners. The product characteristics, while in some ways different, in some ways there are a lot of similarities to the philosophy of product. This is an area we want to explore."

even as a General fan / man, I would be against that. Saabs are like the oppitomy and scourge of the auto industry. (IMHO just as bad as Kia, Hugo, or Daewoo (sp?)).
Main reason I'm thinking about getting a WRX about a year from now is I will finally be done with college, have a job and need decent transportation, and lord knows I'm tired of driving the parent's cars. What does this mean...something that is economical as far as gas prices, decently quick, good in all kind of weather (cause I see everything from ice, to sleet, to snow, to rain, to 100+ heat with high rel. humidity), and can carve the corners and beat up on the local honduhs.
While I'm on that, I know about Cobb tuning and I've been looking around to see what else everyone does to get some more HP and lower ETs out of their cars. Anyone have a long list of links for the tunners and aftermarket companies that are making parts that are budget orianted and make good combinations. Thanks.
