general questoin about the 2.5RS

i was wondering for the 98-01 RS's, why are they called CG8's, and other names? which ones are the CG8..and like CM or..something, i dont know, i just wanted to clear that up, and also ive seen some 2.5 RS's front bumper without the big fog lights, and some with it, what is the difference? im sure they have different names, but..what are they?

98-01=gc8
01-03=gdb
04=gda

The 98-01 RS is Not a GC8 it is an GC6. GC8 is the world market model code for the earlier STI's.

The number 8 refers to the engine code which coincides w/ the 2.0 litre, which didn't exist in the US. So no, the 98-01 are not GC8's. They are GC's though.

actually, the gc referrs to the sedan. gm referrs to coupe.
so the coupes are correctly referred to as gm6 and sedans are gc6. the JDM 98-01 rs-t (or sti) coupe is a gc8. no gc8 is street legal in the US.
