Fumoto valve - 2004 WRX
Is the oil pan for the 2004 WRX the same as that of the 2003? I want to install the Fumoto valve for oil draining and wondered if the threads still go too far into the pan (about 3 threads) which traps a little bit of old oil. If so, then I have read that adding washers or notching the valve solves the problem.

AFAIK all Scoobies take the same valve. I have an 04 F-XT and put the valve on mine no problems. also the amount of oil trapped is very small I checked once by doing a drain then removing the valve and seeing how much came out. Not much.

If it will make you feel better put on the felt washer (supplied) first then a crush washer (flat side to the felt washer). For good measure apply some teflon tape to the threads, leaving the last few threads exposed to prevent any getting in the oil pan. That will take up some of the slack. I've done that w/ no issues.
