Commenting on the "New" Sabb 9-2x (WRX wagon to you and I)
Making the announcement at the Tokyo Motor Show, Peter Augustsson, President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB stated, "We see a rapidly emerging segment in the United States for a premium, small car below the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan and we intend to be among the first in the segment."
Funny.
Somebody should've give ol' Rip Van Winkle a nudge, the 3-series wagon has been released already, and the C-class. Is a "premium, small car" a translation for WRX with optional factory leather and heated seats?
It'll be interesting to see if out favorite little Wagon can save Saab's lagging sales. But, I'm confused how they'll get buyers to pay the $27,000 - $37,000 (est) pricetag, when a STI can be had for low $30's and WRX for low $20's
On the plus side there will all sorts of cool OEM "Saab" parts we'll be able to pick from. And who knows, heated seats might be nice. At least they're not getting fender flares.

I actually like the looks of the saab and I think the people who have a bit of money to spend, want a wagon with nice ammenities and decent power (plus the brand identity [luxury] of Saab) will pay the extra money.
I wonder how many of them we will end up seeing on i-club, or do you think they'll start a club 9-2 or something?

Are there any other pics of the Saab 9-2 other than the same re-hashed 3/4 front fender view shot with a weird lens? I'm tired of seeing that photo and can't get a true impression of the car's looks.
