External wastegate questions
Forgive me if this is somewhere else. Don't flame me please just link me. Alright so I'm in an 02 WRX with a vf39 turbo, pinks, fuel pump, STI TMIC, turboback catless exhaust ect. ect. Just noob mods and a tune with suspension. Anyways. A few months ago I was having problems with boost creep in 3rd and 4th so I switched to a manual boost controller. Now I'm having really REALLY bad wastegate flutter. So bad that my car is lurching and boost is jumping between ~15-22psi through the powerband. Will installing an EWG help with this? If so what parts do I need? I'm mechanically inclined but not very familiar with EWG's I just know that in some instances they help aid in reducing wastegate flutter.

call a shop that tunes subarus or something and they will have better answers for you on what your asking.
I ran EWG on STi Turbo and bolt ons, never had any flutter or boost jumping around like that. Double check your wastegate to make sure its tight or the cotter pin didn't pop off?

Who tuned your car to run the manual boost controller?
I ran stock vf34 wg and mbc with no flutter or problems. Now I'm using ewg on vf39 with mbc and boost is just about the same. Boost seems a bit more stable for sure with the ewg.

Just Google it, and then come back if you have some specific questions or anything that still isn't clicking. But not before more Googling.
In using an EWG, you will need to seal your wastegate shut (there are options there, look into them). Do something funny here, you kill your turbo. At present, if you have to ask what that entails, best you don't just yet. Research, research...

To run the EWG you will have to get a re tune done with Ed you cant just bolt it on and drive. Talk to ed about your options but its basically a new up pipe and the waste gate which together will run you about 500. good luck
