some advice for you...
first off, let me welcome you to I-club if you are new. I only say that (despite your 58 posts) because in the past this type of subject line usually draws some harsh responses and i would've expected you to know that...
Secondly, there might be one or two others here that share your love of the fire, but mostly you will catch hell from the rest of us who are into actual performance, not 2F2F...
Third, if you really want to know more about the flamethrower thing, just do a google search for "RICE" and you should find all the info you need.
Fourth, as to whether or not this is a good idea... I guess everyone's dreams are important to them, but its up to the rest of the world to decide if they will squash them or not.
I could care less if you put flames in your car or something, in fact the only way i see this thing working is if you have some Trogdor stickers on your doors and a PA speaker that keeps repeating "BURNINATING THE PHEASANTS, BURNINATING THE COUNTRYSIDE..."; seriously though, if you have a subie, just make it go faster. don't make the people who see your car think that all subarus shoot fire at their ****, drive real fast, and cut people off. cause thats the stigma that gets attached with mods like that.
i'm not tryin to be a jackass, my own rex draws attention, but its cause people wanna know what kind of car is that? not: "what kinda idiota has fire coming out?" besides the fact that a lot of the pieces of most cars around the rear or undercarriage are manufactured out of some type of petroleum-based substance(plastic), and they will catch fire if they get hot enough.
In the end, each must decide for himherself if their own personal goals are worth aspiring towards. And if you realize they aren't, but you still wanna do it. Then maybe you're an idiot; but if you don't care, then I say go for it...

I built a couple years ago. It is a really stupid and dangerous thing to do on a car that will actually be driven on a real street by a real person. The potential for catastrophic failure (blow yourself up) is high. Mixing hot flammable gases with an ignition source under your car is refered to nowadays as a car bomb.
Speaking from experience, to get a theatrical effect that people think is neat requires more than just a little hot exhaust gas burning when you decelerate, you need an ignition source and a method of injecting flamable gas at a variable rate at the tailpipe end.

To get your flame throwing needs... why dont you just get GTA and you can light as many people on fire as you want.

Madrex.. I do agree with the no "ricer" policy. I am all about the performance and I love watching ppls faces when I blow their door's off on green or threw 2 corners on the country roads, their expression's just spell "how did that happen... he didnt even have an underglow kit" !!
If it was easy to do (like putting a sparkplug in) I just wanted to see what it would look like. If it spit a fireball here and there at high rpm's like some ralley cars, I would keep it. You have to admit when a race car comes into a corner and little fireball shoots out that looks cool.
Plus seeing that I live in N.B and have never seen an rx-7, (or anything nicer than a corvette), I might aswell have the fireballs every know and again. LOL .

Why dont you guys lay off the poor guy. He asked a question, if you know the answer give it to him, if not then STFU because he didnt ask you for your opinion on it.
Now I wish I knew the answer this question but im new to the Rice club. Yes, all subies are rice... deal with it.
Dress a gay guy up in a straight mans cloths and hes still gay. Rice is rice, meaning made from those people with eyes that are a little bit slanty.
BTW im a proud owner of a 04 STI Rice Mobile...

Nah, the definition of "rice" has changed in the past few years. It no longer refers to any vehicle manufactured in Asia, it describes some of the things people do to their cars, regardless of where they were made. Import rice, domestic rice, the epidemic has gone global.

LOL
Thanks for the update..
Maybe in the Rice world the meaning of rice has changed. But in the American muscle car world its still the same.
But I must say, I introduced my 04 STI to my friend who is a big American Muscle car freak and he spent about 1/2 hour under the hood and under the car loving it. He walked away very impressed.

I know a guy that has a flamethrower like mod on the back of his van.. it shoots out like 8 feet from the rear. Not sure what it is exactly but there are 2 sparkplugs going into his muffler(it a dual muffler, 1 in each tube) assuming there is somekinda fuel that is pumped into the exhaust before its ignited. This is something you do to old cars just for fun, not something i would want to do to a brand new car!
