Question ? on exhaust

hey...i have 2 questions
1. a twin turbo setup would require dual exhaust, right?

2. a car with dual exhausts (ex. 350Z)...how exactly does it work? does it have 2 sets of headers that lead to a y pipe and then split again into 2 seperate mufflers? can a 4 cylinder car have dual exhaust or just 6+ cylinder cars(i think the rsx has dual exhausts but i may be wrong)?...thnx a LOT in advance

1) Yes or no. You could go completely seperate, or join together just like Subaru headers do, and then split again if you wanted (which is how 4 cylinder exhausts do it... just split from one pipe).

2) Most factory dual exhaust have a crosspipe, H-pipe, or occasionally an X-pipe, but that's usually aftermarket.

what would be the point of splitting though? wouldnt it be more practical to just run one slightly larger pipe?

Yes it would. Dual on a 4 banger is just for looks, or 'bling' as the kids are callin' it now...

ignore subarus here, it will be much easier to explain around all that horizontally opposed crap.
V6 has two headers, one for each side of the V. a straight 6 has only one header, like a normal 4cyl. just longer.
most 6 cyl have those two headers go into a y-pipe that travels under the car and either splits again or goes out one muffler
the 4 cyl just goes into one pipe after the header and continues out the back

so all 4 cyl have 1 pipe after the header? are there any 4 cyl cars that have 2 sets of headers? is it even possible?

all of the accords that come stock with duel exhaust are 6cyl. but they too, are 2 headers, then 1 pipe, the 2 mufflers

and its not really possible to do a true duel exhaust on a 4 cylinder, unless you had a custom header built, but even then, it would be kinda pointless, you can get the same flow with just a little bit bigger pipe. you can only go so big before you start to lose power(on exhaust that is)
