Plus RX 8 = wimpy torque... Isn't torque the FUN part?
300 hp looks good on paper but feels punk on asphalt without the pull to back it. Heck my GC8 Impreza puts out 150 ft/lbs currently, go spend 8,000 on a 98 Impreza and you'll get the same amount of torque for 22k less!

Car Info: Pearl Blue 2000 impreza rs
this guy has his facts a little messed up on the price of the sti. The evo is not thousands less its like maybe 1 or 2. If you go through and read all the threads that sti owners post they ALL love their car. Personally I would take an sti over any car right now except maybe a ferrari or a porsche turbo. But thats talking when i only have a 2000rs and have my head in the clouds saying one day im going to have this and that. But reading specs on the evo and the sti the evo only has a better 0-60 distance which the evo has like 100 ft. but your crazy if you pick an evo over an sti

Of the cars you listed I'd get the EVO. AWD, 4 doors, most interior room, great hp/torque/handling, good mod potential, unique, best car for the money. If you're considering cars in that range I'd also look at the G35 coupe. It's basically the 2+2 version of the 350Z w/a little different sheetmetal and 7 hp less. If looks are higher on your list than utility and AWD, then that's probably the way to go. IS300 doesn't belong on any list with the rest of these cars.

I agree the IS300 does not belong on this list at all. I thought that maybe the 2004 would change, but that may only be in Japan. It will be at least 2005 model until we see any real changes. I say use a twin turbo six and a six speed. then you could add it to your list but, it would be 38K and a new list entirely...so leave it off the list either way.

The RX8 gives up almost 120 lb/ft of torque to the G35 coupe, yet is quicker in the 0-60. 5.9 sec. to 6.2 sec., according to Road and Track. Mainly due to the fact that it weighs 500 lbs. less.
But yeah, I'd get the STi too.

dood if u a real racer. get the EVO or the STi, or the WRX.
if u want to luxury and cruise just get the 350Z or the is300.
but since u had to ask wat car to get on this forum, it seems like u should just get the is300 since u dont really know wats up with the EVO, STi or WRX.

i'm kinda skeptical of the rx8's acceleration numbers. don't you need to roast the clutch at 8k to just be as fast as a stock wrx? also, i remember reading that the rx8 is a dog from a rolling start.
but the weight is definitely good point. the hardest thing to do is make a car lighter. and the renesis is probably mod friendly - so the potential is there.
still tho, my vote is for the evo/sti - the deciding factor is YOUR preference. good luck man.

I'm not sure I would call the 350Z a "luxury cruiser" by any means. I think it can hold it's own on the race track.
FIY, using R&T's numbers the RX8 did better than the G35 coupe under braking, but not quite as well on the skidpad.

Car Info: want a WRX
i personally wouldnt ask other people to decide what car i should get....maybe i would ask what the pros / cons of the evo/sti were..but nothing this general...figure out what you want in a car...test drive all of them...then come back here and tell us what you think...its really your $ ...and ur asking different people with different opinions and needs what you should do with your money...

I agree with awns729, you should drive them for yourself FIRST, see what you like, and then come and discuss your final 2-3 you're choosing from. What should happen though, is that during your test drive, something will click. This happened for me when I let the salesguy take the wheel (I was driving rather timidly to avoid damaging the car... I didn't know the area, either) and he blasted it to 5k+ rpms down this winding country road he knew. Then we did a launch-start 0-60-0 IN THE PARKING LOT.
I was sold.

ok I'm not the most knowledgeable on cars but isn't the evo's potential way less than that of a STI? Considering the EVO runs like 18.5lbs of boost stock compared to the 14-15 of the STI, plus the STI has a half liter more. I am just thinking the more potential would be in the STI. Though the G35 would be one pimp ride for the chicks, yet still be decently quick, though I'd get the 2 door with factory spoiler, 18s and the 6spd(of course).
