What part of the country are you from? If you are in the snowbelt (i.e. pothole belt) I think the WRX would hold up better than any of the others and the AWD helps a lot. Read the reviews on sports cars enthusiasts who have tested the WRX. They love it! In fact, Automobile Mag compared the WRX with the BMW M5 and called it a tie! :-)
I just got rid of a '91 Exclipse GSX (sold it on eBay) and was car-hunting for about 6 months before I bought the WRX. Initially, I wasn't in love with the lines but now I am. It's great that few WRX's are being produced and that they look so different than any other sports car. Never thought I would drive a 4-door but now that I do, I love the extra room and ease of use. Hatchback was a pain.
Are you going to do any mods? The WRX is the least expensive car in your list and with mods, you could probably get more bang for your buck than with the others.
I have an '04 WRX (stock so far) and LOVE IT!!! You can't go wrong for the money. Get one now before Subaru realizes that they can charge a lot more and still sell them. :-)
Two complaints: paint is way too soft (I have 4 coats of ZAINO on it now) and the stock stereo is crap. Worst stock stereo I have ever heard. I put an Alpine deck in and will be upgrading the speakers.

Where do you live? Do you need AWD? the 2 door thing gets old. Test drive he rex. you'll love it. Ive heard good things about the sound system and yeah the paint does suck...you could add a clear coat to it. links what year is your car?

Disregard what everybody said here . If you have the money, nothing against subies, but get the evo. It has superior handling from what I have read and better steering. It also has more power and torque. But you do have to ask yourself whether or not you need/want awd, but if you do or it makes not difference I personally would go with the evo out of all those cars you listed.

Well, I had either last month or two months ago's copy of Sport Compact where they tested three different WRX's vs. the STI and the one with the most power, handling all that, was one of the WRX's with less money put into it than what you would spend on an STI... bu the Rex and just mod it, if the only thing you don't like is the power and torque, for as little as you're spending you can use that extra money to improve what you don't like and still beat a STI/EVO.

yeah but if you buy a wrx instead of an sti, you void the warranty making your car faster than the sti. you buy the sti and you get all of that performance, plus more potential to mod further, plus factory warranty.

that's true, but I also heard the STI is built pretty close to the edge already... not sure how much more you can do, and I'm sure SOA won't let you do too much to a 300hp car w/o voiding your warranty too.
