Look on the bright side- these movies could make rice become passe. When manufacturers started tossing altezzas on new cars, I noticed a lot fewer on the streets. Maybe now that 'underground street racing' () is a trend, those geeks will find something new to be tasteless and tacky with. If we're lucky, it will be like interior decoratijng or something, so the rest of us aren't subjected to it.

I'm not going to see it, but I'm all for it. The movie makes tuning a more popular trend, which means that manufacturers will want to cash in and make more stuff for me to buy. (more exhausts, turbos, intercoolers, body kits, doodads and wizbangs...etc) Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the first movie had an influence in the tuner world which eventually led us to recieve the STi and EVO. Sure, it's a stretch, but come on... you would have thought the japanese assumed we LIKED slow cars for the past 5 years.
As far as the movie... the previews look like crap. Too much car CGI. Thought I was watching a preview of GT4 or something. Aren't there any stuntmen anymore? Cheap bastards don't wanna wreck an EVO? Well wreck some Lancers! Anyone else notice this or am I just crazy?

I saw a WRX with altezzas yesterday and I just wanted to smack the **** out of that guy. I rolled up next to him at a red light and he glanced over with with smug look on his face, over his shoulder like he's some kinda vampire or something.
P.S. He was neither fast nor furious, but he was defintly well on his way to riceville!

I'm not going the night it comes out, but I will see it probably the same weekend during a matinee.
Yeah, I want to see that Mustang get run over too.
I will however drive to theatre to see all the rice in the parking lot. The busiest theatre in our area is just down the street.

their is a difference between the movie and the riced out cars you see on the streets. you guys are so narrow minded. just because the car is colorful u immediately respond "rice" which is just sad and ignorant. its just a movie. its not supposed to be real. and the cars are slow because they are too fixed up that it slowed down the times. its fixed up for the movie. not for real street racing. and yes that wrx with altezzas.... wat were u thinking.

I just keep cringing each time I see the intercooler on that Evo get smashed on the promo. Then they keep driving like its ok...
I'll watch the movie on DVD. Might drive down to the theater in my Jeep and park on the ricers though..
At least when prepping a WRX for rallyx you don't have to worry about looking rice. I'm not sure too many people will understand why there are mud flaps on the car.

like so many have said, its all about the mustang getting run over, but since i have already seen it in the previews, i am not going to watch the movie
Also get the new motortrend issue! they tested the 2F2F cars. Skyline, Evo, and i forgot the 3rd. but the fastest one only ran 13.9 HA!
The Skyline they switched to make it only rear wheel drive, for sliding purposes.
The Evo is only the Evo VII(which is the same as the Evo8, mostly except *** spec) they did this so they didn't accidently reveal the new evo before it was released at the show.
But still, none of them ran under 13.9...thats horrid!
evo ran a 13.08 in caranddriver(i think CD).
skylines, well they run low 13's high 12's.
the first movie they used actual cars people had worked on. i think these are just stock cars the movie company screwed with. BS if you ask me! i mean damn, my stock wrx runs 13.9 or .8! but yeah thats my (big) piece.

I understand all of your points, but the movie wasn't that bad. Personally, I felt that it was better than the first one in almost every way. The plot was more entertaining and more realistic (guys shooting harpoon guns out of Civics to hijack rigs vs. uncovering money laundering), the dialogue was much better (and funnier when it needed to be), there was less filler (i.e. cheap second-rate "love" side stories, etc.), more car scenes (and not just cars driving in straight lines anymore), etc.
Okay, maybe the cars jumping the drawbridge and the car driving into the boat wasn't exactly realistic, but I'd have an easier time comprehending that instead of Vin Diesel's horrible acting from the first movie as well as any other film of his.
Oh yeah, that scene where the Mustang gets crushed under the semi is BEAUTIFUL. I'm surprised that John Singleton did such a good job, much better than retarded *** Rob Cohen.
