diesel boxer?? im game how bout u??
subaru has recently started producing there legacy with there boxer engine but with a little twist it runs on diesel and only in europe now im sure we all know the benafits deisel has gas milage, low end tq....
my question to everyone here is........is this for us in the states or should subaru start looking elswere??
i for one would be the first in line seeing how 30mpg and a even easyer performance inhansing posability lay a head

There will be a 2.0L turbodiesel available here starting in 2010 from what I read. I think it's rated at 150 hp and 250-300 lbs-ft. It should be really interesting to see what the aftermarket is able to do with it. I know there's lots of aftermarket support for VW's TDI... they have that 90 hp wonder making 250-300 hp.

I've heard about this too, sounds intriguing. Subaru is going to need a diesel to compete with the influx of oil-burners the U.S. will be seeing over the next few years. Mercedes has diesels in the works (bluetec), the big three already have light truck diesels (Cummins, International, Duramax) and are working in smaller versions, and even Audi is getting into the game, with rumors of a diesel version of the R8, drawing upon success of its R10 racecar.
The advantages if a diesel motor are many. Great low-end torque, increased efficiency, better fuel mileage, long intervals between services and rebuilds The future of diesels in the U.S. is looking bright. The initial purchase cost is a bit steep, but if a person is loking to keep their diesel vehicle for a long period of time, it will liekly be a less costly undertaking than owning a comparative gasoline vehicle.
