i'll talk about the car that i know most about from that bunch. i'm still probably gonna miss out on a lot of pros and cons so you guys can help me out on that
STi
pros
- 2.5 L engine
- 300 hp 300 ft lb
- nice pricing 31-35 ish
- AWD
- manual water spray to cool the engine or intercooler or whatever
- DCCD driver controlled center differential lets you put as much as 65% of the power to the rear wheels. you decide how much power goes to which end
- no standard stereo, thinner glass, lighter hood (to save weight)
- pretty much everything on it is standard
- larger hood scoop
- looks damn sexy
- 6 speed
- nice interior
- 1" smaller diameter than wrx momo steering wheel
cons
- subaru isn't sending too many over here
- as a result hard to find
- i'm sure dealerships are gonna be B*TCHES and tack on a whole lot more than msrp
- can't really think of any right now...

cons on the sti:
- Not a great daily driver
- Outside of the performance realm it sucks. 31-35k is a steep price for a car w/out leather, sunroof, fold-down back seats, etc.
- High stress engine could possibly lead to longevity issues
[On a side note, how long are WRX's actually going to last? I've heard 75,000 miles before major problems... just wondering]
You get pure performance and NOTHING ELSE with the Sti. You pay a lot, and you get a lot.
350z performs nicely, has leather + good interior and all that fun stuff. Don't know much about the car, but if you want a balance of performance, looks, and interior quality then I think the 350z may be the winner.

I overheard someone talking about problems with the turbos, vital engine components dying, and other things relating to engines that take a lot of stress. I didn't really think twice about it, but I'm just looking for someone to say "no that's not true." and mean it!

Longevity and reliabilty of WRXs are directly related to the care taken by the driver. Drive it hard, break it sooner, just like any other. The fact that Subaru has the industry standard 60,000 mile powertrain warranty (among REAL manufacturers not from Korea)on one of the more complicated drivetrains is a testament to this. Treat it right, follow the maintenance schedule, and you should expect 150,000 miles with relatively few problems. Of course, mod the hell out of it and race it like you stole it, and that won't be the case of course.

I've sat in and considered the 350z before. I think it looks good and performs well. Its a two-seater though. I had a mr2 turbo and I loved it but had to make a lot of sacrafices for it. Having a faster awd 4 seater is much much better in my opinion. Evo's look alright, I'd rather have an STI though.

Ill say it again, I was very unimpressed during my 350z test drive. Did not feel like 290hp. Handling was ok, but nothing spectacular. Driving position was good, but no better than a run of the mill WRX (which I test drove like the next day just to compair).
I have yet to drive an EVO, but I like it otherwise.
The STI of course I have no doubts I will like it more than even the EVO, but thats just me and I have yet to drive the EVO or STI...

ooo...i LOVE the EVO as much as WRX!!
EVO looks like a regular "sporty" car...with a lil moer power then a WRX!
but the dealership here wont let ANYONE test-drive unless you buy it..(they only have six in my city)
wich i thought was kinda stupid! it was a lil pricy...like about 50k that's 20k over msrp.
i was all "what if someone buys it, test drives it, then dosen't like it after all?"
dealership guy was all quiet lol.
but he gave me a free EVO brochure...
(was talkn about the EVO VIII)

the will make more sti's in the coming years because it will b a great seller, it wont b hard to get, as long as u got the money and a subaru dealership around u . also u should change ur oil every 3000 miles for a wrx, even though the dealership said a free oil change every 7000, thats because they dont want to be so generous, its better to keep clean oil constantly in the ej20 if u want it to last long.
