Colorado Subies
Going on a road/snowboard trip for spring break to Colorado. My question is, will the STi with all season tires be ok on the Colorado roads with all the snow on them? Or should I take a Yukon, just to be safe.
Thanks,
Nick

Ground clearence shouldn't be an issue as long as you aren't going on any unpaved backroads. Even up in the mountains they are good about keeping the roads clear. Take the STi and enjoy the mountain driving!

as long as u know how to threshold brake and hat ur car has ABS, u will be fine, i mean i am 15 and can drive fine in snow, so u should have no issues.

Just got back. I am kinda glad the subie didnt go. The highest octane in Colorado is 91. The regular there is 85. It would have been nice to have the STi for Nebraska, could have set the cruise at 145. Set the Yukon XL's at 98. And averaged 11mpg. Anyhoo, I love the boarding out there and am going to make another trip sometime soon. Maybee I will get a roof rack and a stereo for the next trip.  I saw well over 1,000 subies, and at least 150 WRX's, and 4 STi's. Colorado loves their subarus.

All seasons are so that you can drive in summer/fall/winter/spring on the same set. Winter tires are so soft that they would be rapped on dry roads. All season allows the tires to be on the car year round and not worry about destroying them. Since the stock tires arnt good in rain too.

what have you done?? all season tires do nothing well they are not intended for a high performance car like the sti. the traction rating on a tire is for wet traction. most high performance tires are ranked at a or aa (better than a). mordern winter tires will give good ice and snow traction, ride quite on the higway, and should last 3 to 4 seasons of average driving. by the way the speed rating on the tire states what speed the tire can sustain with out failling. personally i would not be caught dead doing over 112 mph on all season tires though you might. you spend all that money on two expensive rides only to go cheap on the tires. summers will soon be here be safe get tires that match your sti's handling. please i would like you to be around so you can trade that yukon on the big new subaru 7 passenger suv in late 2005.
