is it cheaper....?
hey whats up guys and ladies
im new to the forum, feel free to laugh at the newbie
of course im extremely interested in the WRX as we all are and i got a question at the moment with many in the future
is it cheaper to buy the short shifter after i buy the car from the dealer?
or is it cheaper just to buy it with it (its one of the options as you know)
same questions about the turbo, voltage, and vacuum? gauges on the front dash. Cheaper aftermarket or buy with it?
thanks all.

the shifter the dealer sells is the whole assembly if i'm not mistaken? cuz i looked into that also... something like 190 for the part and 90 for install?
i did more research on my own (www.subarureview.com and other sites) and came to the conclusion the subaru shifter wasn't worth it
so i bought the Kartboy Short shifter (~100) and installed it myself.
it's pretty easy and quick: check this thread out
edit: i forgot the thread:

as far as the guages... i don't have them and i don't like the subaru ones... i like aftermarket stuff better
but to each his/her own

Well,
Add at least $100 install fee to the options and you get a rough idea as to what it will cost ya.
I had the ShortShift installed (I was lazy<g>) and it cost me $125
I could have done it in a half hour if it wasnt so dam cold and I was to lazy to do it!
If I could do over,........Yep, Crawl right on in there and tinker!!!
The instructions are pretty clear, AND you have the Forums for any questions!
IF you have some Mechanic abilities, Jump in there and do it!!
Visit, SUBARUWRXPARTS.com or others and check the prices for the compounents you want......Much better to do yourself.

the short shifter is definetly more cost effecient when I buy it afterwards, but the gauges its about the same if not a litttle bit more
more questions to come in the future
