Burnt Smell ??
Greetings,
My 2002 WRX sedan has recently developed a burnt smell in the interior after a few miles of driving. It has an auto trans., 60k miles, and been used just for commuting. I've looked underneath the car and under the hood and can see nothing visibly wrong.
What can it be, is there a common problem causing this?
Thanks for your assistance!
Sincerely,
ktmhk53

Two things are difficult to diagnose over the internet: noises and smells.
Check for leaking fluid beneath the vehicle after it sits overnight. While it's possible that the leak burns up on the exhaust before it drops to the ground, you might be able to spot it when the car is raised on ramps or a lift. Check the floorpan above the exhaust to check for debris that might have somehow become lodged above it. The exhaust system itself never actually comes into contact with the vehicle floor. There should be a slight gap throughout the entire length and heat shields surrounding parts of the exhaust.
