Hehe. We are old school. Lots of us had 2.5RS's before they were even considered COOL.

Hey. Nice man. I have '97 Impreza L and I love it. I wouldn't mind having a more power engine, but you can't complain. Besides, gas is a b**** right now, so the fuel economy of the 2.5RS is definitely a plus.

I'd tell ya though, it'd be hella nice if you smoke someone's Lan Evo.

OK, you will not smoke EVO's WRX's and STi's. Forget about that.

Just enjoy your car and "smoke" the little fish...

Try your hand at AutoX. Maybe in time, you'll get lucky and come across a wrecked STi and take its guts, stick it in your car, and continue paying RS insurance

I know somebody who did that......

Whoa, a fellow SE-R guy. Right on, I still have my 96 (I'm 96stse-r on SR20forum) that I bought new.

I don't believe the RS engine is as stout as the SR20, so I would think you'd have a bit more work on your hands than say, going SR20DET. Of course turbo powered Sentras are a waste without the traction to put the power down. More to the point, I think you'd have a LOT of work to create STi beating power, like reducing your compression for one. If that is truly your goal, I would say that the WRX would have been the better choice. In the mean time I would follow Imprezer's advice and go with the suspension tuning for a couple of years and transfer that to a then-used (now new) WRX. Have fun!

Never listen to people that tell you have wasted your money when you are happy with what you have. Enjoy it.

Those wheels should look real good on there. Looks like you've got a good jump on the car already. Just remember....IF you start to question yourself and how the car feels....drive in something slower for a bit...it will give you new appreciation for your car.

That's why I take my wifes Geo Storm for a ride when I get the bug to do more to my WRX...then when I get back in the WRX, I'd swear it is an STi

Thumbs up

Fast or slow, road racer or commuter, $15,000 or $36,000. Who cares? Its still a Suby and thats all that matters.

Oh yeah and no matter what it is....its still better than a Honda!!!

If anything, if you want to start beating those WRXs (and later STis and EVOs) at AutoX, hone your driving skills. That will be your biggest modification to your ride.

At our local AutoX events, a friend of mine has a stock Impreza RS WAGON on nothing more than Falken Azenis RT-615s on the stock wheels and he beats up on plenty of WRXs and STis because he's a great driver.

Yup. Same deal in my region. A stock 04 RS can beat a lot of WRXs and the occasionally an STi.
