Anything to know before owning a Subaru WRX, or any advice?
hello all I currently own a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, since I have owned it I have replaced the head gasket, 15 sensors, rebuilt the motor and most recently I have replaced the fuel pump , it’s been one hell of an expensive ride. So the car is for sale and I was looking at getting a 2002-2003 Subaru WRX but I was wondering if there were any kinks, problems, and or anything I should know before taking the plunge and buying a WRX?
I am rely trying to be cautious this time, and hopefully it pays off any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

damn near every 02-03 you find will have at some point had modifications done to it, which can be good or bad. I would say look around on these forums, and stay away from craigslist and dealers if you can. I bought mine at a dealer and was told it has always been stock. When I took it in to have exhaust put on, the mechanic told me that there was an after market up pipe, and the exhaust had been swapped before. The car has treated me well, but still you never know what you are going to get. People on here are pretty honest, so I'd stick with the forums to find a car, even if you have to travel to pick it up. What is your price range? P.S. I will sell you mine for, lets say, $8500!

Its not on the market, I have an unhealthy obsession with this car, and don't really want to sell it, but if I do, it is because I need an SUV, and you can get a 4 runner for CHEAP these days. PS Just had a compression and leak down test done and everything checked out A-OKAY!

Save money for pistons and motor rebuilds, lol. No the ej20 is a great motor you shouldn't have too many problems with it, the only problem is the older you get the higher mileage you gonna find.
On a side note that sucks about your qr25de, I've owned two sr20de powered nissans and the last one I sold at 210k and it still runs to this day.

Try to get one built after May of 2002 (that'd be the after the first quarter of MY 03) so that it has the thicker gears. Obviously you're better off buying a car that wasn't modded (or at least one that's been modded safely (RE: no intake or MBC without a proper tune, etc) and wasn't driven recklessly.
In MY 04 the steering rack was supposedly improved but I like the bugeye seats better. Also, I'd get a MY 06/07 if you can find one since they have the larger motor and better brakes, etc.
