can anyone please tell me if a 97 WRX STI has an air intake sensor?

 

do you mean like a maf or a map sensor?

 

This really isn't the best place to ask this, we are a North American (primarily US) board and we did not have the WRX or STi here in 97. We've only had the WRX since model year '02 and the STi since MY '04.
You'll get better information on a European board such as Scoobynet where they are familiar with your car.
