30k mile service
So I was checking my manual to see what the 30k service is all about. Basically, I have to do an oil change, rear diff fluid change, coolant change, fuel filter change, and inspect a bunch of stuff. I can do pretty much all of this stuff, but I have some questions.
How do I change the fuel filter?
How do I change the rear diff fluid?
I ask because I can do all of this in my driveway and save the $400 bucks the dealer wants me to pay them to do it.

I dont know either haha. I was at my dealer yesterday, for routine oil change, and found it was time for my 30k tune up also.
They quoted me $350 I looked at the guy for a second...and just busted out laughing. Walked past him, took my keys, got in, and drove away laughing. Must be out j0 damn mind to pay that much for that. So I went to the shop that put on my exhaust, and he quoted me hella cheaper. So I duno, call your dealer and ask how its done. All I can think of.

Yeah, but they gave me a free rental car while they were doing it. Yeah, it was only a Toyota Prius, but all I had to do was gas it back up before returning it. I think that came to about $0.75. Wish they had given me the Matrix that was parked next to the Prius, though. Only reason I had the dealer do it was because my car is a lease, and I want to make sure they have all the service records on hand so they don't try to job me at the end.

There is a lot more to a 30K than just a Filter and Fluid change. They also make adj. and inspect. Most have a check list.
Of course every dealer is different so they might also go an extra mile and do something extra and you never know what others might do. Guess you have to trust the dealer. Oh and when you get an air pocket in your cooling system then you will be paying him to fix your engine.
