Question 22611af424?

Question???So I have a 02 wrx. I’m trying to smog it but I come up with an O2 sensor problem so I got a new one from the dealer…. Still check engine light. The Dealer tells me my computer is bad. I try my girlfriends computer from her WRX I still get a check engine light. I realize now her car is a 03. would this be the reason for the fault. Can you run an 03 ecu in a 02? Or is the fault in the wiring? Any light on the ecu subject would be appreciated. My car calls for a 22611af424 apparently a 26 will work. Hers ends in a 31. What is the deal???
Thanks

Sounds like your dealer's a lazy *** and didn't want to look into the problem. It's probably something simple like a loose wire, etc. I don't recognize the CEL code you put on here.

Did you tell the dealler it wasn't passing smog because of the CEL?

There are many different codes related to the 02 sensors, and having one does not automatically mean that the sensor is bad. Also remember there are two 02 sensors so you need to be sure you are servicing the one the code is for.
ECU failures are very rare, it is unlikely (although possible) that is your problem.
The 03 ECU will set a code if used in an 02 because there is an additional sensor (forget which one) in the 03 that is not in the 02. The absence of the signal from that sensor will set a code.
It would help if you could post the actual code # in Pxxxx format as this will help narrow down the actual issue.
