2006 WRX Bakes are WEAK!

I have a 2006 wrx. I dont know is it just me or the brakes realy suck on this car. I mean when i think about it, 2006 wrx are just for looks. The brakes look so fancy from outside but they perform like ****. Handeling is worst, unless you put 1000 dollars in to it. I made a big mistake buying this car. O well i'm about to sell it with loss.

I seriously think you are under estimating your cars performance.

The 4 pot brakes on the 06 are quite capable.

I have a 2006 wrx and my friend has 2003 wrx. His brakes are much much stronger than mine and they are stock.

I have an 02, with the 4 pot brakes. Had an 02 with the regular brakes. There is a noticable difference in the stopping ability of the two.

See if your friend will let you drive his car to see if you can tell the difference yourself.
You also might want to look at your rotors and see if you've glazed them (overheated rotors will usually have a blueish tint to them) and that may be causing some issues with the stop feel to the car.

I have driven my friends car alot of times. Do you think it could be a weak brake booster. It says on the msrp sticker that this car comes with the EBD to help with the braking. I think when they assembled my car they forgot to put that in.

I wished i had bought a sti.

I don't think this car can be just for looks. There was a big reaction to the new front grill. A lot of people didn't like it and some people even thought the guy who designed got fired for it. I'm not sure if your expections are higher than what the car can actually do; but I wouldn't say that this car isn't a good performance car.

Could be air in the lines, if you are seriously thinking that there is something wrong with the brakes, you might want to take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

From a friend the difference between the 4 pots and the Brembos aren't really worth it if that is the only reason for going STi. This is based off of his 02 going from OEM brakes, to the 4 pots, to the STi Brembos.

I would see if the brakes need to be bled.

I drive an 06 WRX TR and the brakes have helped me many times avoiding accidents and they were awesome during my auto-x. Now at the same time, when I was going to fast and they didnt stop me instantly, that was not the fault of the brakes. Go drive an STI and then test out the brakse and then drive your WRX and test the brakes. The STI is better yes, but not that huge of a difference. Also, did you properly break them in? Have you done any crazy driving that may have glazed them?

One other thing to keep in mind, the tires on the 06 are not that great. I went with Falken Azenis 615's and noticed a huge difference in stopping power. Try that.

You should sell it or trade it for something else. Don't get another Subaru because you are sure to be disappointed again. Can I get you a tissue? How about a cookie?

Are we supposed to talk you into liking your car?

I hear Porsche has really good brakes. Try them.

Could his problem be the tires? If his friend is running better tires then the RE92's wouldn't it seem like the stopping ability would be greater?
