Yes, what I've know all along. Obviously Im biased, but I think the WRX Wagon is the best all around car, not number 3

"You might also find your kids are interested buying the sort of inexpensive sports cars that are targeted at them, like Mitsubishi Motor's Lancer Evolution sedan. "

I don't think $27,000 is inexpensive for a teen...

If you have sex on the first date, you'll probably crash!

I think that an RS would be safer than a WRX. I mean come on, give a teenager a turbo and they are gonna push it as hard as they can. I for see more deaths because of having too much power for most teenagers experience.

Also, why the wagon over the sedan? I think most teens would prefer the styling of the sedan with the wing.

No way, I've loved Subaru wagons since I was in my early teens. My father owned an '84 GL Wagon (Which has since been passed to me as a beater), and I'd love to own an '04 WRX Wagon. I'm buying a '99 Impreza L Wagon though.. I can't afford a WRX quite yet

(If anyone is wondering, I'm 19)

Sure the sedans are nice, but I love the utility and styling of the wagons more. Wings don't do anything for me really.. I wouldn't mind putting one of those small spoiler lips on the back of my wagon if I can find one that doesn't look ricey, but I'm not going to die if I don't

here here...
My first car (in 1987) was a '73 Chevy Nova with a "fire-breathing" 350. It was the "Custom" trim level and had a 2bbl carb. The manual indicated it made 190 hp and everyone thought it was pretty fast. Fortunately for me, the suspension didn't "handle" curves so much as it "negotiated" them The lack of a confidence inspiring suspension is probably the only reason I am alive today. The limits of a WRX are so much higher that when they are passed, it is much harder to recover.

Think they f-ed up while putting the Evo in that sentance. They had the Lancer on the list. All around the Wagon is better, for me who dosnt belive in creature comforts the STi is good. Just gotta figure out how the hell I am gonna fit my snowboard in it w/o a center pass through.

Still, the equivelant of these cars back when I was a teen were WAY out of my league! Not to sound like an old fart, but I was thrilled to get a Chevette and not need my parents to take me around anymore. Times have really changed.

I don't begrudge a teen that can get a WRX, or Evo, or Lexus, or even a used bimmer.
But to me, it's kinda like sex on the first date - great, but what do you have to look forward to down the line???

I know this point has been debated to hell; just my reaction to the article. Not trying to start anything.

love the sex analogy! I got my first car 7 years ago for like 1500 or so. i understand exactly where you're coming from. BTW you are old

WTF?

Count me in with the old guys. My first car, 1982 Subaru Brat cost me $2300 , that 's with the included rust. Me. I don't get the idea of parents throwing $20,000 at a car for someone with little to no driving experience.
