2002 WRX impreza 2.0 turbo - Car randomly dies at idle
Hello Everyone,
I ran into an interesting issue while commuting home the other day -
I drive a 2002 WRX impreza 2.0 turbo wagon, 135,000 miles.
While i was stopped at a red light - my car shut off.
This was not like the car had stalled out, ALL of my power was completely cut off. My trip meter and clocks reset. Power returned immediately, and I was able to just use the ignition to start the car again.
This happened again when I stopped at another light.
I looked at my instruments, and turned off my AC and put the fan down a setting.
After turning off the AC the car did not die at idle again. I've been trying to replicate this error again without success.
To reiterate,
I was commuting home in traffic, when stopped, and idling, in neutral on a flat road, the car lost all power and shut down - clocks and trip meters reset.
This happened again on the same trip, not even a full mile down the road.
Any experts have an opinion about what may be the issue?

i can understand an IACV causing idle to die or AC compressor starting to seize up. take off AC belt and see if the problem persists? I know a buddy whos power steering pump seized on him and left him stranded. car wouldnt start
