The only thing is that Subaru will most likley keep the 2.0 due to rally restrictions of no more than a 2.0 liter. Subaru wants to break into America very well but they also dont want to ruin the rally image of the company. So they need to keep at least one of the imprezas in the line up a 2.0 liter.

If so, don't worry too much, I believe it was designed strictly as a concept for a video game. Can anyone take a wiiiiiiiild guess of what company the designer came from? I'll give you a hint, the company is infamous for it's 3-piece grille.

Guys, video games have absolutely nothing to do with Subaru model re-design. Subaru and SOA release information to various media (automotive shows, periodicals, trade journals, etc.) in a very controlled manner. That's why it was a surprise to this market when it was announced that the STi would be released with the turbo EJ25 just days after Mitsubishi announced the arrival of the Lancer Evolution. It's all marketing and timing - the two go hand in hand. Treat rumors with some skepticism because Subaru can change specs or even circulate false rumors when we are talking about a model that is still in the design stages.

2006 Wrx?
has anybody seen the new 2006 wrx sti body style? i looks awful, i mean looking at it as a car its a cool design, but looking at it as a subaru wrx, its a wrong-doing to the design. apparently they enlisted the skills of an ex-alfa romeo designer and he did all the work on the front end. i just hate how the front grill is split into 3 and the rear now has the dual-exhaust. they have ruined the look of the sti...any thoughts on the new design?

It looks like an Alfa which is fine, if you are desinging an Alfa, but not for the Subaru. Most car companies are trying the whole corporate face thing. I don't like it but that appears to be how the industry is moving.

Hi Tim,
Subaru is being very tight lipped about changes for 2006 on the STI. It will have the "inverted Alfa grill" that the new Tribeca SUV will have. Mechanical changes are unknown. I can however sell a 2005 for 100 under Invoice so the savings are significant. The 2005's are also eligible for 1.9-3.9% financing which may not be available when the 2006's first come out. Let me know if you have questions on the 2005s. I have owned an STI and I know them well.
Sincerely,

Dunno about you guys, but I am really thinking about getting a 2005 now... But the part which says "inverted Alfa Grill" and "It will have" is a BIG downer.

What Edmunds.com Says: With the top end of its lineup filled out, Subaru is looking to revamp the bottom end with some quick upgrades to the popular Impreza.
What We Know: The Impreza will be undergoing modest changes this August, prior to a full model revamp that is scheduled for 2007, during which time the car might receive a name change. A version of the car will almost undoubtedly appear at the Tokyo Auto Show this fall before units find their way to North America. Neither the engines and transmissions, nor the Japanese build location of the upcoming Impreza will be deviated from for the upcoming version, although the 2007 model, which will be built in at the company's plant in Lafayette, Indiana, will be a vastly different vehicle, based on a shortened version of the Legacy platform.
