$700 for mods, what to get?
I have about $700 of B-Day money to spend on mods for my new '04 WRX. I am looking for all around mods. As much as I would love to blow it on just an exhaust, I feel other things in the car need it more. So for my list of mods include...
Kart Boy Drop Links
Kart Boy Short Shift Kit w/ Bushings
Momo Shift **** (matches steering wheel)
IC Hoses (not sure which are best...)
Axle back (looking at a prodrive or stromung)
Possible 45mm gauge in PSI to replace the mPA gauge in the car
Possible SS brake lines
What does everyone think? I thought about gutting the uppipe, but I don't know if that will be friendly to the Cobb stage one I am doing in the future. Anyway thanks for the replies.

you going for suspension, power, or looks?
an adjustable rear sway bar with upgraded end links would generally run close to $250.
many people say to upgrade the wheels and tires first. rotas are cheap and often bought by suby owners. the S03's are also highly praised, but all together that will be much more than $700.
there is also the cobb accessport for for about $500.
or you could save up for a turbo back. that will throw a nice amount of power on.

Personally I would do a little bit of all...... Get a adjustable rear sway bar and endlinks... maybe a short throw, s/s lines and good brake fluid.

Save and get the turbo back exahaust along with an uppipe and you'll be happy :-) I just got my TBE but choosing an uppipe so I can get it installed all at once along with my suspension..etc
Wheels are nice, but they aren't really going to do much of anything.... I have always looked at wheels as one of the finishing points of the car... I never did like seeing someone having really nice wheels but then when you ask what else they have they just say that's it, just wheels...
That's me though... everyone is different.. just depends on what YOU think is worth it and what you want to do first as far as looks and mods go :-)

I would get the Cobb Access Port...right away you're at a Stage 1 (260HP). Instant gratification,...HP that you'll feel. Then start putting away for a turbo back exhaust or just a down pipe ($250-$600) and re-map to a stage 2 (280HP). Again instant gratificating (is that a word) seat of your pants power...lol.
get all that cosmetic and non-power related stuff later...

the accessport will definitely give you the most happiness, but you'll have to wait a while for it since they're back-ordered for so long. But the accessport is the way to go as far as engine managment in my opinion. (mine will be here in a few weeks).
Tires or wheels would also be another way to go.

Yeah I am all about the access port too, maybe you guys are right... I just can't stand the look of the stock exhaust...ugh...
My only other complaint is the mush in the shifts...I am thinking the short throw and the bushings would help a lot.

start with the exhaust, tenabe ultra medallion cat-back cost me just about 700 dollars, and its easy enough to install yourself.
another way to go though is a blow off valve, turbo timer....practical stuff that will promote the health of your turbo for years to come.
OR, just get a new front facia and bolt it on, then wait for your next birthday to paint it.
