Looking for 1:18s this year..
Hopefully a 1:18 is in the car, slicks are worth 1 second at Summit,so we'll see what happens. I was at the track when Milner ran the BMW M3 V-8 car in the summer of 2001, and as I came out of turn 10, 4th gear 101mph, shifting into 5th at pitout,.
Bill Auberlen came out of 10 clocked at 130,..yep,.and caught me under braking into turn 1 !! He turned a 1:09 that day in the afternoon. They did say the 944 was fast though,(yeah right)!!
The most I could get out of a DuPont E-36 M3 on hoosiers was a 1:23.9, but it was cold, and the car was set up for
Elkhart Lake. Sound like you've got that Integra sorted out pretty good...
You running any Grand-Am races this year, or World Challenge stuff,..the DC race was cancelled which really screwed my possible Sponsor deals.

Right now I don't have anything planned, I might take a couple of rides here and their but nothing major. Its funny you talked about an STI in World Challenge Gt because I have been thinking about it myself. I really believe that it could be a contender.
I think a 1:18 should be pretty easy with slick and the APs for your 944.
Yeah Bill is a damn good shoe and those V8 were nasty GT cars, its to bad they built them so superior to the GT3RS that they had to be throw out but hey they atleast won one championship with them. It should be interesting with PTG in WC GT. .

what a STi GT car could do @ Summit
Hey Cash-
If Gary Sheehan, is getting a 1:25 out of a 3000lb 250hp Hoosier shod WRX @ Summit, what could a 2500 lb, 450 hp STI with Motons, 15inch front 6 piston APs, 265-40-18 slicks, with a Cusco center diff and a functional 12-15 degree rear wing,..what could that do?? My engineer figured a solid 1:18-1:19 lap time, mainly because through the carousel it would be blindingly fast and prob hit 155-165 down thr straight do to the speed carried out of turn 10.
opinion Cashman?

Ps. the faster the 944 t goes, the curve for getting each half second becomes 3-5 times harder than say a GT3 RS,and there is only so much more development left in my non-tube frame car.
tube frame 944 turbos go 1:17's all day long, those are the old Electrodyne cars, and some Eric Barrett cars( 45k engines with 515 @ the wheels) I've got 75k in my car and I'm done spending money, that's why I want to build a Jun type WRX GT for Speed.

I doubt you could get the STI down to 2500lbs. More like 2600-2700 going ***** out removing everything possible. Sheehans car is striped down about as far as it can go, and it has ~300lbs of ballast. The STI tranny adds another 80lbs. If you are that concerned about weight, then an STI engine/tranny swap into an old L would be the ideal (along with a widebody kit with 275 series tires and a nice suspension of course)

2500 lb issue..
Kosta-
thats why I spoke of poss starting from a group n tub and building up, money being the determining factor sometimes, I think 2500-2600 lb range is realistic, maybe it would take less cage than a group n tub, since there have been few examples used for road racing in the U.S at any top level of motorsport.
I do here ya though, perhaps even 2650lb could be accomplished with the right tub as a starting point. I have been in touch with some people in the UK last week and will have answers very soon on weight.....but I do see your point.

944,
I believe that the WRX should get to those lap time and maybe a little lower, the problem is as always Not what you can get out of the car but what will Speed GT allow the car to be. Take the Viper Comp Coupe that is coming out. From the factory the car will be 2900 and have about 500 at the wheels give or take. Speed will have the car come in at 3400 and have some retardly large restricter. Making the car uncompetitive and no one will run one. If you can find out what Mitch might allow in the series then you can get a better idea of what your dealing with. My thought on this was to contact prodrive and see what it would take to build a car for GT, let me know what you find out from the UK.

944 - So you are looking for a fully prepped Group N shell? ... I take it from Prodrive or similar? ... What is the price .. like $12-14k?
Every so often a spare unused fully prepped shell will come up for sale on ben's rally page ... I assume you could use the same shell as last year .. you might try calling vt sportscar, TAD, AVSport .. etc.
hmm .. not such a bad idea.

Shelling out for shells......
Bel and Cash thanks alot for your advise. I had talked to Gary Sheehan a month or so ago, and he had told me what I am realizing to be true, 100k per car in a competitive format, and yeah Cash- you're right if Speed thinks you're gonna just be ok, then yeah you can get away with murder for a couple of races , then you'll have to run a restrictor and add some weight !!
My customer wants to own 2 cars that do well in Speed World Challenge, and he would like them to be Subaru's , for he may be buying into half of a dealership. So needless to say, I CANNOT SCREW THIS UP !! My best friend, a semi series regular wil drive the proposed # 1 car and ,myself the # 2 car.
Sorry for converting this thread and getting way off base.
944 turbo guy( soon to be WRX-GT guy)
