Sti 6,500 RPM Redline?
I was reading posts on this board and I came across the following link to a movie of the Sti:
http://www.subaru-global.com/lineup/.../sti/download/
If you watch the movie linked here:
http://www.subaru-global.com/lineup/.../41t_video.wmv
You will notice at the 0:29 mark an image of the tachometer with the redline LED lit up. The needle is pointing at 6,500 RPM. The next frame shows the guy shifting. The tachometer is a 9,000 RPM tachometer which is the same one the U.S. Sti will get.
Now since this is the global Subaru site the Sti in the video is most likely the one with the 2.0 liter motor. Still I would doubt the 2.5 liter motor would rev higher.
The other unknown is that I remember reading somewhere that the techometer had an adjustable warning light and buzzer. So maybe it could be adjusted higher?
I thought people might be interested in the info.

There are pictures of the gauge cluster and it shows redline at 7,000 RPM. Also, if you look on the video the dash for the 7,000 mark is white, so it's not in the red. The STi comes with a user-settable shift light. For the video they set it at 6,500 RPM. Which makes sense to set it a little before redline.
And yes, I do always enjoy watching that video some more

The previous STi had a redline of 7600RPM. I believe (but I'm too lazy to confirm) that the latest STi 2.0 has a redline of 8000 RPM. Notice at about the 12-second mark there's a close-up of the tach and the redline is well past the 7000 mark. The shift timing light is adjustable; you can set it to activate at whatever RPM level you like.

On the US Sti site, they have a pic of the 9,000 tach. If you lock closely you can see that their is red at 8 and 9,000 but nothing at 7,000. So I am assuming that it will be about a 7,500 redline. Just look closely at the pic, I know the guage bezel is blurry but you can still make it out.

Now the tach on the pic in the gallery on this board shows a 7,000 rpm guage, so I dont know
