Hopefully it will not be too outragous. An extra 100 crank hp for an uppie, turbo-back and reflash is pretty good. Since it's comming from Prodrive, will it be given the ok from SOA? Or is it going to be frownded upon by SOA as a "modded" vehical?

I really think that when a 300hp, PPP Prodrive UK based STI can do the Quarter mile in 13.4 seconds, then a 400 hp US STI with goo-gobs of torque 'awta be able to dip in the mid 12 second range,..think about it,..were adding 100 hp to it and its not like traction will be an issue,..? right? And for those late night drive back from Road Atlanta on RT 85( 5 lanes wide and no cops) 170 mph,..of course hypothetically speaking,....170 mph top speed..
944 turbo guy.
PS ..the bottom line is ,.anyone who for a second doubts that a US 2.5 STI cant make 400hp is not very smart. ECU alone is worth 25 hp, and then let it breath( 2.5 is a big airpump, bigger than a 2.0 by a landslide). Keep in mind that the boost will be controlled by the ECU now.

I'd be a little suspicious about 292HP on a stock bottom end, especially on US gas. The JDM WRX makes 250 stock becuause they can get 95 octane gas (vs our 91-93 stuff).
Check out SPD tunings page on the topic (http://www.spdusa.com/wrx_intro.htm and specifically http://www.spdusa.com/new_page_4.htm)
they've got more experience tuning Scoobies than anyone in the US (except for Prodrive) having been doing it even before the WRX even hit our shores.
I looked at the Prodrive site and the contents of the level 3 kit and it seems to be mostly bolt on components (and illegal in CA if your car has less than 50K miles due to changing out the cat).
Can anyone point to the article that said it was good for 292hp? Based on what SPD says it looks more like 260 or so.
Anyway, just my US$0.02.

US GAS IS PERFECTLY FINE.
It is NO worse than the gas in Europe or Japan. We use a different rating system than they do. What may appear to be 100 octane gas in Japan is equivalen to our 91/92. Our gas is fine, probably some of the best in the world.

A 105 RON rating equates to a US equivalent 100PON number (RON/MON average). While I can get 100 octane gas from the pump at some 76 stations in CA, I'm pretty much stuck drinking 91 as a rule. You were right about Euro and US gas being about equal though (95RON ~= 91PON) .
The upside to this is more consistant gas on our part. We make less power normally, but we don't need to worry about blowing a valve seat on a hot day due to a bad batch from your local Shell. (And god help you if you were driving an Rx-7)
One thing I didn't mention is that Japanese emission standards are much lower than in the US, being about equal to a 1996 49 state car. (Which allows for richer mixtures, and less restrictive cats)
