P1s
Prodrive P1s are replicas of the WRC wheels.....but they are heavy, especially in 18" (they would make a great set of winter wheels, however, because they're very strong).
On the plus side, they will clear the brembo 4-pot brakes on the STi. On the minus side they weigh around 23.4 lbs each (versus ~17 lbs for the 10-spoke BBS forged "spec C" wheels).....in terms of handling/performance this would be a backwards step relative to the standard forged wheels.
Shop carefully when looking for STi wheels......not many will clear the Brembos and I would advise against using big spacers.

When we talk about the wheels not clearing the huge brembos... what exactly are we talking about? What part of the wheel potentially won't clear the breaks?

Where the spokes come into the outer rim, if they slope in too fast, that is where they will hit. Or the outer rim itself if its too small.

I'm looking at either getting 17" SSR competitions Type C 12.6lbs. or Gram Lights 57 Cast 18lbs. The other Forged gram lights don't look like they'll fit. Otherwise everything else matches up. Do you have any advice on this matter?

I'll prolly keep the potenza's as emergency spares and use the 17" wheels for winter. Already have winter tires for them.

STi BBS rims
I've posted something similar to this before, but I suspect very few people use the search button, so I'll just reiterate;
The BBS 10-spoke forged rims (assuming they're standard spec. on the base STi) are made exclusively by BBS for Subaru......they are top-of-the-range and weigh around 17lbs........also they are very expensive to replace.....Rallispec are currently selling them for $799 EACH and I suspect SOA won't be that much cheaper, so I'd be very careful if you intend to use them for winter wheels.

800 bucks!? Man, they're heavy and ugly. I Know they are forged and I beleive they're very strong and well crafted but 800? I just don't like the look of them? I need something for winter! What would you suggest then??

At the moment it's very difficult to say what wheels will actually clear the brake calipers.............if you don't like the BBS forged wheels there's always the standard JDM / type UK Sti wheels (split 5-spoke) but these are cast and probably (at a guess) weigh around 20 lbs, or so.......but would make good winter wheels (as would the Prodrive P1s which weigh around 21 lbs for the 17").
www.Rallispec.com have the JDM Sti wheels on their website for $399 EACH.
OZ Superlegerra are really nice (light and relatively cheap) but only 19" will clear the STi Brembos.
The other options are some of the top-end Japanese wheels, like Volk, Advan, Work etc. I'm sure many of these will fit, but you're looking at $400 to $500 each for the lightweight forged rims.
If you're not in any hurry, I'd wait and see what Tire Rack has to offer (these are all guaranteed to fit OK), but they don't stock Volks, Advans etc. Just take your time and do some research.....I'm sure there will be plenty of good avice posted on i-club in the near future !!

19" rims
Richi,
I certainly wouldn't recommend it and I'm not sure that it can be done without rolling the fenders etc.
I made that comment more to warn people who may be thinking of ordering 17" or 18" OZ Superleggera's for their STi......these definitely do not fit at present. However, I think I read somewhere that OZ were trying to address this issue to make smaller rims fit......

Volk CE28N's 17x8 +44 offset will fit over the STi Brembo's and they weigh 14.5 lbs. a piece. they cost about $1300 for a set however.

Stratos,
$1300 for a set of Volk CE28Ns seems like a steal to me. Most places I've seen are charging around $1700 to $2000 for four 17" (depending on colour and whether they have the centre caps or not).
Where did you see them for $1300 ??
