hood protector
Has anyone installed the optional Hood protector offered as a option on the Sti. If so does it alter the airflow over the hood to a degree where it might be a problem for cooling the intercooler ?

Clear bra or Rock Blocker for paint protection is the best.
If you use the Impreza/OBS hard lexan hood protector the intercooler will not have enough air flow.

I second the clear bra from RockBlocker. Protects more and you dont know it is there.

I was at my local subaru picking up parts today and asked them about the hood protector piece. The parts guy couldn't find it for the 04 STi, only for the wrx. A subaru tech overheard what I was looking for and said that they don't have one for the STi only the wrx because it would deflect the airflow going into the hoodscoop. He did say, "it's your car and you can do whatever you want with it, but it wasn't recommended. Any truth to what he said??

Sorry about the long URL, but see below for pics to the STi lip. Special order, but looks good.

OMG it is one of those black plastic truck bug-guards
please people, have some respect and do not put one of these things on an STi. And whats the point of protecting the front edge of your hood if your just going to drive around and let your bumper get completely sandblasted, just ask some of the guys that have been driving regular WRXs since 02 how their bumpers looked after a few thousand miles

Clear bra still looks better and covers more of the car, but to each their own.
