Don't believe everything that is written here! Come on people. This kid may be or may be not telling the truth.
Let me ask all of you this.....................
What responsible parent on this planet would give a 16 year old kid with little to no driving experience an STI. And if you can swallow that tale then give him 20k (again little to no driving experience) to modify this already potent machine even more........
??????????????????????????????????????????????????
Sounds like a death wish for their son , or a line of bull crap!!!
Geez if you guys want stories I can make up some great ones!!!
Anyway for those who missed my previous post i still have that swamp land for sale in upstate NY, real cheap!!!! LOL

Like I said earlier, this is not that far fetched especially where I live. I have seen worse.

back when I was in highschool
way back in 90
a classmate got one of the first new 300zx tts
he drove the life out of that car
spent somewhere around 10000 to modify it says it was 550bhp
hit a telephone pole at 125 mph
died about 5 hours later
from what people say he was awake and in extreme pain
when they found him in his car 30 minutes after the crash
if your just 16 , no matter how good you think you drive
take racing lessons
they are alot of fun too
you will learn stuff that can save your life
and also bring you alot more enjoyment
I think for most of us, the stock sti will be more than we can really
handle, drive it for a few months
then decide if you think 20000 is really needed to improve the car
the last thing you need is too lose control and kill someone else
if your going at extreme speeds, your gonna get sued
and lose.......and maybe never be allowed to drive again
all for a mistake you made at 16

Guys,
I know people that are driving the test mule STI's around. They will tell you that it would take a hell of a driver to be able to use the full ability of this car. The performance and capabilty of this car when it comes out is going to blow people away. It's going to take some time for people to get used to it. It drives NOTHING like a wrx. This is not a WRx with a stiffer suspension and bigger motor. It's a completely different beast. I can't wait to get mine in 3 months.

This _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Guy
I would waste y'all's breath on this kid this is what he thinks will happen based on his previous life and some pie in the sky dreams his parents have fostered but unless they are stupid rich they would loose to much money on this auto shop idea for it to be viable. the costs like retro fit realestate, permits, parts it wold cost mid sixes to do.
I was like this kid a while ago i thought i got a brand new cheavy blazer in highschool and that the world would come to me. turns out mom was letting me use her car. the real world will probably knock this kids socks of when it hits him.
and if 04sti reads thisthink about the fact that if you could drop 31k on the car and 25k to mod it you could get a lot nicer car ask your parents if you can get a used 911 for 50K and when they say no you'll realize you wont get the STI the way you want either.
Sorry for the rant.

Car Info: 2016 Red WRX
for the people who think he is BSing:
04STi lives in a fairly affluent area not far from where my parents live and where i grew up. Many of the Golden State Warriors live there (at least they did back in the day). I DOUBT he is BSing. in fact, he is probably considered "poor" for ONLY getting an 30-35K car.
I'm not saying he isnt spoiled or anything or trying to defend him. but i'm not surprised. hell, 1 of my friends in high school rolled around in a new 300ZX back in the day (92-95). he had to drive the 300ZX, cause his dad wouldnt let him drive the porsche 911. My other friend had a new NSX (although he only drove that when his parents were out of town since it was his mom's daily driver. haha. so, yes, 16 year olds do get nice cars.
oh ya, u wanna hear spoiled? this 1 girl in my lil sisters grade (10th grade) got a brand new VW beetle she wanted on her bday. BUT it was the wrong color. so she MADE her parents take it back and exchange it losing thousands in the process..

People, I would just like to add my 2 cents to this thread about young, spoiled kids getting fancy cars. It happens, will continue to happen and always has happened; nothing suprises me anymore. But you can be certain about one thing. The people that BUY the STi with their own HARD EARNED money will reap the satisfaction that this car can deliver 10 fold over the spoiled brats that have it handed to them on a platinum platter. Peace.

I'm gonna give my kid my old used 355 F1, while I pick myself up a new F360 Modena.
That was supposed to be a facetious statement.
Anyways, I think that kid is being a little stupid. Why buy a $30k car and dump $20k into it? That is stupidity at the highest level. Buy a freakin M3, a used 911 (as one post stated), a loaded G35 coupe, or an Audi S4. If you looked hard enough, you might even be able to pick up a used M5. If you want performance bang for the buck, go with a Vette Z06 or a used '99 Viper. Man...I don't get it...people pick up a car thinking "wow, this is a really cool car" and say "I bet I could make it go faster with an extra $20,000"....well no $H@7 sherlock...you'd better cuz that is one big wad of cash to throw into one of the fastest depreciating monsters out there (and by adding aftermarket stuff to it, you are just helping it along that inevitable downward depreciation spiral).
Honestly tho: I would suggest you spend $45k on the car, and $5k on driving school (can anyone say Skip Barber?). You will learn to be faster, AND safer!
Man...why did I even respond to that post? Must be too bored here at work.

Call it jealousy, because yes, I am jealous. I wish my parents could drop money on a WRX STi plus an additional $20k on mods. But like everyone on here says, you are just increasing your chances on screwing up (tickets, accidents, etc.), especially since you're so young. I thought I was a good driver when I was 16, and I got in two accidents in my Honda Accord (and I paid for everything for both incidents, so throughout high school I was working two jobs until late night just to pay it off, and I still maintained above a 4.0 GPA every time).
This is what I want you to do. Buy your STi, drop $20k in mods, come drive through where I live, then I'll rob you at gunpoint and jack your car. It's better than crashing, 'cause you'd still be alive when I'm driving away in your car. And your parents will probably buy you another one anyway.
Don't take it personally. Just make your decisions wisely. And if you do get an STi, then congratulations. Next time around, don't mention that you're a spoiled 16 year-old.
