Woofer inside of Spare tire
Hey everyone,
I had a 10" sealed box woofer in my old 93 Escort wagon that sounded really nice but the box was enormous and took up lots of space. Also, i hated having to have the little privacy shade pulled all the time as to hide the fact that I had a sub/amp from potential vandals. I'd resigned myself to not putting a sub in my new 04 Outback Sport. However, the bass is lacking to me.
Anyhow, I saw an interesting thread about putting a sub inside of the spare tire. Others have put boxed in the area with the tire removed, but I've seen a few where they made the woofer fit right inside the tire. If I could do something like this, that would be perfect. Stock look without giving up any cargo space. Anyhow, I saw some members posted about having done this but they were rather old posts so I don't know if anyone is selling them or where I could get one. I'm not sure if I could fit my Orion Cobalt 10" from my old car in such an enclosure but I'm willing to buy a woofer 10" or 8" woofer that will fit in there. Anyhow, I appreciate any new information you guys can provide.
Also, does anyone know if installing an amp voids any portion of your warranty? If it does I guess I'll just live with what i have but if it doesn't I'd like to pursue the sub in the spare tire idea.
