Will This DVD player fit?
I'm looking at getting a in car DVD player and I'd like to mout it in an OEM gauge pod housing. it's 2" high 7.5" wide and 6" deep I'm pretty sure the height and depth are ok. will the width fit?
if not does anyone have any ideas?
Also I'm not doing this because I can't afford one of these style screens but has anyone ever thought of mounting an in-dash retractable style screen in the gauge pod housing ABOVE the vents. and then putting the head unit where the OEM head unit is. I just think it would look really cool, it wouldn't block the vents and you could see everything. not to mention have some extra space to mount something else.

I saw a car on Ebay about two days ago that had the dvd player in the gauge pod. It looked really cool and when it was folded you couldn't even tell that there was a dvd player there. I'm not sure if that specific dvd player will fit but i think it might be worth a try. Good luck with that.
If i had the money i would like to do the same but i just can't bring myself to shovel away that much money so i can watch a movie in my car. Maybe one day though...

If its a single DIN chassis, it should fit. Now, as for the wiring associated with it, you may need to find a way to stuff it all in there. I have the gauge pod, and took off that section, a single DIN radio/cd player will fit for sure (but no $$$ to get the mp3/CD/CDR/CDRW/DVD player that I want).
concidering that DIN is a standardized size, I would say yes.
hope that helps.

hey Matt,
I read somewhere that you are using a different control mechanism for the screen. One where you can control the brightness/contrast, etc without having to remove the panel? Si this true. I am interested in this, but I am broke for at least a month or two, how much longer do you plan on making these?
thanks.

Yep, I'm using a new lcd screen with a wireless remote
that controls all of the screen's functions.
Let me know when you are ready.
