Who Makes a Good Amp

Zapco and JL are not "the best" but they are up there. Stay away from **** like Audiobahn, because from what I remember they have Jensen Internals since they're owned by them. Check out www.carreview.com for reviews from owners.

I used to compete back in my Honda years. The brands that always held up to the tasks were Soundstream and Precision Power. Both brands have lines for the casual and audiophile crowds.
Just plan out what you want from your system and buld around that concept. If you are not sure where to start, the head unit is the most important. Since, that is the source.
Don't be fooled by "peak power" ratings. Some brands will list a high peak power rating but fail to note the amount of distortion at those levels. Some amps can't maintain those peak power ratings for very long either. Look for nominal ratings while paying attention to total harmonic distortion.
Your amp or amps should be able to drive their respective speakers' max input wattage without reaching over 90% of maximum power output.
Good Luck.
