viper and clifford

I would go with viper over clifford. The 791 is an awsome system but I would steer away from remote start if you have a manual tranny. Bad things can happen if you accidently leave it in gear. What the remote starter will do is try to spin up the engine, the car will lunge and stall, then the starter will do it again and again. I've seen with my own eyes a prelude smash into the side of a building while the driver looked on out side of the car in shock. It can be done but I do not recommend it...

You don't have to worry about the car lunging for Subaru's as they have a neutral safety wire that you can tap the hood pin to in order to prevent starting the car in gear. As for the viper over clifford, it's a moot point, both companies owned by DEI and both are essentially the same system.

I believe this was regarding the thread I created a few days ago. If so, thanks for the replies. If not, you guys still have some really useful info. Yeah, I'm still deciding on which one I should get. If they are pretty much the same system, is there anything about either one that makes it better than the other? Small details maybe? Look? I don't know... And about the remote starter, I think I'm pretty safe about that. I always park in neutral and not in gear. When I start my car, I make sure it's in neutral anyways. Force of habit, that's what I picked up when I learned how to drive. Keep the info coming. Thanks.

Depending on which lines you're talking about there are differences. Yes they are now owned by the same parent company but the Viper/Clifford relation is nothing like the Viper/Python/Sidewinder/Hornet/blah blah blah relation. While they have begun sharing parts not all lines are similar. Yes the Matrix line is like a Viper

That just means the Matrix isnt a true Clifford. There are still difference in the packaging of systems, remotes, and quality. I'm a little biased because I'm a long time Clifford fan...but I do respect Viper....its just from what I've seen Clifford seemed to have a better product....remotes work better, better sensors, better adjustability, etc. But this could be changing now.....just stating my opinion formed over many years. I'm actually disappointed with whats happening to Clifford alarms...I guess you could say they're becoming more like Vipers

If you can get a hold of the last generation Cliffords you wont be disappointed.....the IG7000/8000 series are some of the best alarms ever
