Yes...but a line converter is not the same as a preout...the sound is going to be colored because the initial amplification in the head unit also amplifies noise along w/the signal, and since it's not a great amp there's a bit more noise...then you take a line converter and decrease the amplified signal back to preout - but now with more noise than before...then you re-amplify that muddled signal and enhance the noise in the signal yet more...Line converters and preouts just aren't the same in terms of sound quality...

Yes 10" speakers can pound...but don't mistake pounding for "bass" or low frequency...if you look at the specs each manufacturer provides with even their 8" woofers I bet they claim their frequency response goes all the way down to 20 Hz...because the speaker will produce SOME of that frequency...and those quoted frequency responses are under ideal conditions 1 meter away from the speaker in a sound studio and in an "ideal" enclosure for that speaker (volume of that enclosure should be provided by the maker...)...how they perform in vehicles however with sound absorption of the interior of the car is a different story...looking at SPL measurements yes 10" can be as loud as 12" speakers given enough excursion and amplification...but when you really look at true measured frequency response once installed you'll see that the lower bass (down to 20 Hz) can't be really be produced in a 'loud' way until you go up to 12" woofers...Yes it's been a few years since I competed with my stereo but I don't think that tuning problem will ever have a different answer...

Hey RussellSimmons, you mentioned you wouldn't get a W7 and you'd get the W6's, what goes wrong with the W7's? And what size W6's would you get... cause I'm looking to upgrade my subs.

I have the Kenwood MP819 and love it. I picked it up for $279 after $100 instant rebate last Christmas.
