Security systems
Any recommendations on what's good / what works / what to consider / etc.?
My Impreza is coming very soon and I'd like to keep it 'mine' as much as possible.
Not looking for anything overly dramatic or outrageous. I think the 2-way pager stuff is a little out of my budget.

Well what exactly is your price range. The TOP of the line Viper runs about $240 with out installation, the MSRP is $599. If you have connections or know a place that can install cheap why not go with the best. My philosophy, if your going to get it, go with the best, or dont get it at all. Why settle for a shiesty alarm skimping 200 bucks. low jack does not prevent the car from being stolen just tracks it once it is. a good thief can uninstall that before you even know your car has been jacked. a 2 way pager alarm is the way to go.

I've got a Viper and love it. I forget the model number, 750 I think. Anyway, all the wiring is black, and the control box is hidden. It has the motion, impact, and incline sensors. It's a very solid system, and I have had no problems with mine. I don't have the remote start, trunk opener, or a turbo timer. Good luck.
