replacing OEM stock horn...
Hi All:
I wanted to know if anyone has any experience replacing the OEM horn. I have a 2002 WRX, and am tired of the low level, stock horn. I'd like something stronger. I have seen in the forum Hella horns, but they sound complicated to hook up. I am not an electronics guy; I was hoping to just disconnect the stock horn (or horns...are there two???) and reconnect a more powerful one. I'd like to avoid messing with relays, etc. (but can change fuses if that is all that is necessary). Does such an item exist? Also, I have a stock alarm system, so I don't want to cause any problems with the horn if the alarm sounds. Any & all help appreciated!

no... use the relays...
think of 2 circuits... one primary - the horn and the secondary - the switch to activate the horn.
usually, they have small wiring. and the new horns require thicker ones...
at most, 2-3 wires to add...
stock alarm uses an external horn...

I hooked my Hellas up to the stock circuit. They sound fine however I know they could be lounder. The light beep when you arm or disarm my alarm sounds weak. When you lay on the horn it would fine.
All I did was disconnect the stock horn and place the two Hellas in series and grounded them at the negative battery terminal.
I mounted them in front of the radiator. I think they look great.
