Idealy you want power going to that wire when you turn on the stereo, but good luck find a spot to connect it on the stock HU. You can just attatch it to something that gets power when the car is turned on. I'm not an expert, but this might wear out the amp sooner. Also, you might here some electronic noise coming from the subs. Normally that noise would be covered by music, and you wouldnt hear it when the stereo is off because the amp would be off too. I hope this helped you so you can figure out where to attatch it.
By the way, where did you guys run all the wires through the car. I didnt have a problem taking my stealth apart to find a spot, but I'm nervous to do it to my rex. thanks.

I actually hooked the remote wire to the (acc) that goes to the stock head unit. this is connected to the ignition, so when you turn the car on the stereo will come on.
behind the brake pedal there is a whole that goes through the fire wall and is covered by a rubber piece and just pop that out. I ran the rca, remote, and power under the driver chair and under the door lining through the back seats and into the fold down hand rest.

dont splice wires, reasons to void warranty.
if you wanna make it simple you can splice the power wire into the ground wire and make a switch that you can buy from radioshack for 3 bucks. on and off for the subs. and that way if you have any warranty problems they see that you did not splice wires in the harness.
