Remote wire on 6 disc head unit?
I have a 2004 WRX with the stock 6 disc in-dash head unit. I am adding an amp and a sub to the system, but I am having trouble locating a remote/accessory wire from the head unit. does anyone know if it even has one? If not, any ideas on an alternative solution. Everything else is set up after having to use a LOC since the head unit doesn't have a pre-amp rca output. Any help would be much appreciated!

Here's a wiring diagram of the HU for an 02. It should be the same as an 04:

I think you can use either pin 10 or 14.

Thanks a lot for that link, it proved to be quite useful. Just in case you were curious, I tried tapping the remote lead into pin #14 ( unused / remote turn on) and realized that the amp was only on when the radio was on, but turned off when I switched to CD. I am now going to try pin #10 (fuse and relay box, fuse no. 9 / ACC - Switched Power) and hopefully that will work. I am going to use a multimeter first this time to save myself extra work. Thanks again for your reply. Take it easy.

The switched power from the HU is for the power antenna so that is why it only comes on with the radio. There is no other source of switched power that goes on and off with the HU. If you plan on keeping the stock HU the only alternative is to use a source of ignition switched power as you are considering (ACC power). The downside of this method is the amp and sub will turn on anytime the ignition is on, even when the HU is off. Aside from them drawing power all the time there may also be some noise from the speakers.
I'd suggest replacing the HU with an aftermarket unit which will have both preamp outs and the proper switched power, unless you are married to the OEM one for some reason. The sound will be a lot better too.

I installed one in my subaru and have no complains about it.
It provides a remote wire from the unit itself.
