Recommendations on five channel amps?

I run the Eclipse PA5532 5-ch amp. Personally, I'll agree that 1 amp for speakers and 1 for the sub may soud better for the heavy audiophiles out there but for most people I think the 5-ch is just fine. My biggest reasoning for getting a single amp was weight and space. The Eclipse 5-ch isn't exactly light (as heavy as most amps) but it puts out more than enough power for a set of MB Quart 6.5" Q-Series & a 10" Eclipse sub. If you want something that is going to be amazingly loud and make your neighbors run away in fear then this isn't the amp for you, but if you want a nice sounding moderate amp then it works out well.

i have the kicker amp http://www.abtelectronics.com/script....php3?id=11443
It powers 2 12" alpine type s subs, and all the speakers in the car. It does a great job of it too

I just purchased an Alpine MRV-F450 5-channel amp.
50x4 + 200x1 into 4ohms...
Will run:
MB Quart RCE216 6.5" components in the Front
MB Quart DKD113 5.25" coaxials in the rear
Phoenix Gold 10" XMAX in the Trunk
All of this will be run through a Nakamichi CD-45Z Head Unit.

I hear the PPI amps are among the best, pretty sure they make 5 channel. I read alot they seem to get pretty hot but I think that all depends on where you mount it. I just ordered a 4 channel amp from them(still waiting for it to come) but I plan on putting it under my seat like my sub amp and with the air ducts right there I shouldn't have a problem with it overheating.

In my opinion, MTX makes the bests amps for your money, (plus the staff and repair people are the BEST) and they make a great 5-channel amp. If I remember it's a bit pricey, but hey, what's not? If you want the sub to sound good off one smaller channel( the MTX has a seperate class D channel) buy a sub that uses power more efficiently. for example a sub that has an RMS power or 500 watts will have a Db raing of around say, 87Db. What you need is more Db with less power, find a quality sub with higher Db (93) and a lower RMS (150-200).

I'm in the middle of searching for a 5-channel amp and so far, the JL Audio 500/5 unit is the best one that I've found thus far. It puts out 100W to the front 2 channels, 25W to the rear 2 channels, and 250W to the subwoofer. It is a hybrid amp, Class A/B for the main 4 channels and Class D for the sub.

multiple amps won't be better on SQ. many 5 channels are simply a 4 channel class a/b and a class d under the same cover so you really are running multiple amps. also, most sq setups i've been seeing lately, don't even amplify the rear channel. it provides rear fill and is being powered by the head unit. check this 5 channel. it should be able to crack your sub.
