My headunit wont fit in properly?

I know I should post this in Audio and such but I think i'll get a quicker reply here, I have a 95 legacy as my name says and I just installed my new Alpine CDA-9833 headunit. It all fits into the DIN and all but the problem comes when trying to reinstall the trim piece that goes around the radio and all lighter and such, Would it be a good idea to cut the trim piece or to find another way?
PEace,
KYle

Remove the trim ring on the face of the radio itself. Chances are you didn't do that and that is the problem. That ring is not used in an ISO-DIN installation like Subaru has.

mulder's right.

that trim ring is usually needed if the mounting forces the head unit to stick out.

but since subarus hae everything FLUSHED, you need to remove it....
